Who We Are

Our Story

After growing up with a permanently disabled Marine Corps Veteran father, Susan Fochs has always had a passion for helping veterans. Whether it was physically assisting them, raising money for other foundations, or lending an ear as emotional support, the general idea of aiding veterans has always been at the forefront of Susan’s mind. During her freshman year of college at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, the idea for a non-profit came to mind. Operation Not Alone (ONA) was officially founded on January 22nd, 2013 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. What started as an effort to send care packages to active duty service members serving overseas, has since expanded to offering 6 services for active-duty service members, veterans, and the communities they serve. See our timeline of events below:

Since its inception, Operation Not Alone has sent over 1,000+ care packages to active-duty military personnel in 17 different countries. In that time, Operation Not Alone has sent 5,000+ cheer packages to veterans in all 50 states. Since the launch of the Girl Scout Patch, over 1,500 Girl Scouts have earned their patch to proudly display the ONA logo on their uniforms. These numbers continue to grow as Operation Not Alone expands its database and networks.

We thank you for supporting our mission, our troops, and our veterans.

“Volunteering with ONA has been on of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Being able to see the real impact on our service members and veterans is awe-inspiring.”
